So you might of heard by now about alkaline water, but wondering what are the real benefits of it as opposed to regular bottle water or water straight from the tap.
What is PH?
PH is a scale we measure a solutions acidity or alkalinity. A solution , water in this case, is measure on a scale of 0 to 14. 0 to 6 being acidic , 7 being natural, and 8 to 14 being alkaline.
Tap water normally has a PH of 7 where as bottled water can range from 5.5 to 9.5 depending on the brand.
A number of companies now manufactory alkaline bottle water such as Essentia which has a PH of 9.5 or higher, as well as filtration systems to add to reusable bottles or taps.
What are the benefits?
It is claimed that water with a higher PH of 7 has many health benefits such as increased oxygen levels, anti-aging , anti-disease, greater hydration, increased energy, prevention of acid reflux.
